Neighbor Arrested After Shooting Dog Multiple Times

Hayden Howard was left stunned when her English Mastiff, Jackson, returned home covered in what initially seemed like numerous bug bites. She assumed he had been bitten while outdoors, but as she examined him more closely, a horrifying truth came to light. Jackson had been shot multiple times with a BB gun.

Rushed to the vet, Jackson’s condition was worse than Hayden had imagined. The vet found nearly 70 gunshot wounds across his body, with pellets embedded in various areas, including his eyelid, ear, and knee. Despite the severity of his injuries, the vet managed to remove 27 bullets, though 20 were still lodged inside him.

In the course of the investigation, the police identified a neighbor as the prime suspect. During a search of his home, they discovered a BB gun, pellets, and drug paraphernalia, which linked him to the cruel act. Assistant Chief Craig Hayes of the Seymour Police Department described the case as one of the worst he had encountered, citing the sheer number of gunshot wounds inflicted on Jackson.

The shocking act of violence has left the community in disbelief, but Hayden remains hopeful that justice will be served. She believes the offender should face a lengthy prison sentence for his actions and be banned from ever owning animals again.

Despite the trauma he endured, Jackson is beginning to recover. His resilience and strength have given Hayden hope that he will fully heal, even as she fights for accountability in the case.
