Officer Jacob Derbin tragically lost his life while responding to a disturbance call in the 300 block of East 211th Street at approximately 9:55 PM. As he arrived at the scene, he was ambushed and fatally shot. The suspect, a convicted felon wanted for violating conditions of his community supervision, fled the scene and remains at large.
Despite efforts to save his life, Officer Derbin succumbed to his injuries after being transported to University Hospitals. His passing has left an immeasurable void, both in his department and the community he so selflessly served.
Officer Derbin had proudly served with the Euclid Police Department for just 10 months, a brief time that demonstrated his courage and commitment to protecting others. His sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the risks our officers face every day in the line of duty.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Derbin’s fiancée and his loved ones, both blood and blue. May they find comfort and strength in the outpouring of support during this time of profound loss.
