Lt. Mark Meadows: A Devoted Officer Remembered With Love

It is with great sorrow that the Irondale Police Department announces the tragic passing of Lieutenant Mark Meadows while on duty on January 6, 2025. The incident occurred just before 7:00 a.m. when Lt. Meadows was directing traffic at an intersection and was struck by a passing vehicle. He was immediately transported to Grandview Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Any inquiries related to the investigation should be directed to ALEA for further details.

The Irondale Police Department is deeply grateful for the support provided by surrounding law enforcement agencies during this difficult time. We also want to express our sincere condolences and offer our collective thoughts and prayers to Lt. Meadows’ family, friends, and colleagues.

Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr. shared a heartfelt tribute to Lt. Meadows, stating, “Lt. Mark Meadows was a treasured member of our Irondale family for over 30 years. He led by example, showing humility and dedication to service, and embodied the heart of a true public servant. His loss is felt deeply by all who knew him.”

The Irondale Police Department, as well as all city employees and citizens, will continue to support Lt. Meadows’ family during this heartbreaking time. We take comfort in knowing he is now in the care of his heavenly father and will honor his memory by providing ongoing grief support to those affected.
